Assertive Communication

As we have discovered through my three previous posts, the magic of assertiveness arises when we start to become aligned. We find alignment in our beliefs and emotions as they begin to line up with our values (once we’ve taken the time to establish what these are).

In line with my core belief (that assertiveness is who and how we are, not what we do) there’s no one-size fits all policy when it comes to assertive communication. Assertiveness is person specific (both you and them) and it is situation dependent. Therefore, in order to find your assertive voice, you need the manner in which you communicate to also be aligned with who you are in general but also in that moment.

Through exploring our non-verbal and our verbal communication in my workshop, we begin to uncover what it means to be authentically, unequivocally you. As human beings, we sense authenticity on an intuitive level. When this is present, we trust ourselves and others. Moreover, we become trusted.

This has become the pivotal moment in the workshop where the participants discover their voice. This alignment between heart and head leads them from becoming assertive, to being assertive.
