ICF Mentor Coaching in Brussels & Online

It’s about noticing more.

When you’re coaching, there’s a lot happening at once.

You’re listening to the client. Following what matters. Choosing whether to ask, challenge, reflect, interrupt — or simply stay quiet.

And while you’re doing all of that, it can be surprisingly difficult to notice your own coaching.

Together, we listen to your coaching, explore the choices you’re making and notice what might become possible when you have greater awareness, range and choice.

Not to perform the competencies. To become more aware of how you coach.

What happens when we listen to your coaching?

Not the coach you intended to be.

The coaching that actually happened.

What am I listening for?
1 minute with Gareth
WHAT YOU NOTICED
What were you paying attention to in the moment?
WHAT YOU MISSED
What becomes visible when you listen again?
THE CHOICES YOU MADE
Why this question? Why this direction? Why now?
THE CLIENT’S RESPONSE
What changed when you intervened — or didn’t?
YOUR PATTERNS
What do you find yourself doing repeatedly?
YOUR RANGE
What else might have been possible?

It’s all material for learning.

There is a framework.

But the framework isn’t the work.

ICF Mentor Coaching uses the ICF Core Competencies as a lens through which we can look more closely at your coaching.
They give us a shared language for noticing what is happening — where there is already strength, where something may be getting in the way, and where you might experiment with something different.

The competencies give us a language for looking.

They don’t tell you who to become as a coach.

Mentor coaching and your ICF credential

Working towards an ICF credential — or renewing one?

Mentor Coaching forms part of the ICF credentialing pathway and is designed to support the ongoing development of your coaching against the ICF Core Competencies.

If you need Mentor Coaching for an ICF application or renewal, we can structure our work together to meet the relevant ICF requirements.

The hours matter.

Mentor Coaching is a developmental process. We listen to your actual coaching, explore it against the ICF Core Competencies and credential-level criteria, and use what we notice to support your development over time.

Planning to apply in 2027?

ICF’s Mentor Coaching requirements are changing. From January 2027, credential candidates will need to work with a mentor coach holding the relevant ICF Mentor Coach Specialization (MCS).

Mentor Coaching works best as a process, not a one-off assessment.

We work together over time, using recordings of your actual coaching as material for reflection, feedback and experimentation.

You can work with me individually, as part of a small group, or through a combination of both.

INDIVIDUAL MENTOR COACHING

Your coaching. Under the microscope.

One-to-one Mentor Coaching gives us dedicated space to listen closely to your coaching and explore what is happening beneath the surface.

We work with recordings from your practice, noticing strengths, patterns and opportunities for development through the lens of the ICF Core Competencies.

Who might come to Mentor Coaching?

You don’t have to wait until an ICF application is looming.

Mentor Coaching can support you at different stages of your development — whether you’re working towards a credential, preparing for your next one, or simply becoming more curious about the coach you are becoming.

WORKING TOWARDS YOUR ACC

Building the foundations.

Develop greater awareness of the ICF Core Competencies and begin to recognise how they show up in your own coaching — not just on paper.

DEVELOPING TOWARDS YOUR PCC

Moving beyond technique.

Explore the quality of partnership, presence and responsiveness in your coaching — and notice where doing less might sometimes allow more to happen.

YOU’RE ALREADY CREDENTIALED

Development doesn’t end with the badge.

Bring recordings because you want to keep learning, challenge familiar patterns, experiment with your range and stay curious about your practice.

The credential might be the reason you arrive.

It doesn’t have to be the reason you stay curious.

Perhaps you’re looking for something different?

LEADERSHIP COACHING

The focus is you and your leadership.

A space to think about your leadership, decisions, relationships, transitions and whatever might need your attention.

COACH SUPERVISION

The focus is you and your work.

A reflective space to explore your clients, relationships, practice, ethical questions and what the work itself may be stirring in you.

I listen as a coach. And as a mentor. I bring more than twenty years of leadership and coaching experience to this work, alongside my own continuing development as a practitioner.

As an ICF PCC and ICF Mentor Coach Specialization holder at PCC level, I can bring the competency framework into our conversations without allowing it to dominate them.

I’m interested in the detail of coaching: what you heard, what you followed, what you interrupted, what you left alone — and what happened next.

Feedback should give you more choices.

(Not teach you to coach like me)

And you don’t need to send me a perfect recording.

Spoiler alert: there isn’t one.

If you’re considering Mentor Coaching, we can start with a conversation about where you are in your development, what you’re working towards and what kind of support would be most useful.

If you’re working towards an ICF credential, we’ll also make sure the pathway we agree meets the relevant requirements.

Bring your coaching. We’ll start there.
